Naiomy Guerrero

An independent curator and art historian with a history of providing cultural strategy to museums, culturally specific institutions, arts focused philanthropies, and universities. Successfully driving innovation and community connection at all levels.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in art history at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center and currently an art history instructor at the City College of New York. She is a  Graduate Center Teaching Fellow, Posse Foundation scholar, and holds a B.A. in Art History from DePauw University.

In 2021, Naiomy served as a program officer and associate arts programs specialist at the City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs. The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) provides support for 33 City-owned cultural institutions as well as hundreds of not-for-profit cultural organizations and programs throughout the five boroughs.

Naiomy was the inaugural Diversifying Art Museum Leadership Initiative Walton and Ford Foundation Curatorial Fellow at the Perez Art Museum of Miami (2018—2020). 

During her curatorial fellowship, she co-curated the Perez Art Museum’s 35th Anniversary permanent collection exhibition ‘The Gift of Art,’ and co-organized the first Latinx Art Sessions convening to discuss the U.S. Latinx Art canon with scholars, art professionals, creatives, and the community at large in Miami.

In varying roles, Naiomy has  worked with NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Twitter, Pulse Art Fair, National YoungArts Foundation, Latinx Project NYU, The New School, and the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. She has written for  Artsy, ARTNEWS, Arts.Black, Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
